Panel 1:
>
Panel 1: > Joel (in PJs) (getting the show set up on the TV): What’s the point of “Saturday morning cartoons” anymore? Panel 2: > Joel: If they’re streaming, it doesn’t matter when we watch. So why bother, just for the ritual? Is ritual what keeps my parents tied to their religion? —But in my ritual, there’s no substance … only the postmodern affect of a middle-aged millennial. Am I merely forcing my nostalgia on a child, whether or not my traditions make any sense in the modern world? Panel 3: Joel sits on the couch next to Angel (also in PJs). Angel pats him on the leg. They look at each other. Joel smiles, touched at Angel’s reassurance. > Angel: Dad, this is when you watch carTOONS! with me. It’s my favorite. Panel 4: They both turn to the TV. > Angel: But I wish you didn’t pause the show every ten minutes to make me watch old McDonald’s commercials on YouTube. > Joel (very passionately): The commercials are part of the experience! Don’t question me!
